“Come forth into the light of things. Let nature be your teacher.” ~William Wordsworth

A Hudson Valley native, Eileen MacAvery Kane’s work explores our relationships with memories, family, community, spirituality, nature, and the environment through painting, photography, drawing, digital collage, and video. The interaction of these elements, and the sometimes unlikely pairing of them, is what interests her.

Eileen, currently an art instructor at SUNY Rockland Community College, has over three decades of expertise as an artist, graphic designer, and art educator. Her extensive portfolio includes roles as sole artist, photographer, video editor, author, and designer, with a focus on creating multi-disciplinary projects. Among her notable works are "Her Six Word Story," delving into often untold narratives, as well as projects like "Familiar Places, Liminal Spaces," "LoveSense," "The Ghosts We Live With," "East End Stories," "Teacup Secrets," “The Afterlife,” and "Ethics in Graphic Design."

As a distinguished professional, Eileen is a Fulbright Scholar and has received grants from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA). A life-long yogi, Eileen is a member of Yoga Alliance and she recently completed her 200-hour Yoga Teaching Certification. She teaches yoga locally and leads walking movement and meditation workshops.
